Why parents choose BJJ

How Training Will Benefit Your Child

Our kids Jiu Jitsu program improves physical fitness, discipline, and confidence in a fun environment. Here are the reasons parents choose to have their children train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Self Defense

BJJ focuses on ground fighting and submission holds, providing practical self-defense skills that can be useful in real-life situations.

Discipline

Children learn discipline through consistent training, following instruction, and committing to steady, structured practice on the mats.

Problem Solving

BJJ involves strategic thinking and problem-solving, as practitioners need to anticipate their opponent's moves and adapt their own strategies accordingly.

Confidence

As children progress in their BJJ training and achieve milestones, they gain confidence in their abilities. Overcoming challenges on the mat can translate to increased self-esteem off the mat.

Respect

BJJ emphasizes respect for training partners, instructors, and the rules of the sport. Children learn to treat others with courtesy and consideration.

Concentration & Focus

BJJ requires intense concentration and focus during training sessions. This can contribute to improved attention spans and better academic performance.

Social Skills

Training in a BJJ class provides opportunities for children to interact with peers, fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and the development of social skills.

Stress Relief

Physical activity, such as BJJ, can help children manage stress and anxiety. The structured environment of a BJJ class provides a positive outlet for energy and emotions.

Lifelong Healthy Habits

By starting BJJ at a young age, children develop a foundation for a healthy lifestyle. The habits of regular exercise and an active lifestyle can carry into adulthood.

Find the Right Class

Beginners

Ages 5–9

For students ages 5–9 and kids brand new to Jiu Jitsu. The class is centered around confidence building and getting used to the movements of Jiu Jitsu and self-defense. This is done through numerous mat drills and Jiu Jitsu "games." Kids of all ages love the games — before you know it, they'll be practicing them at home!

Intermediate

Ages 10–15

For students ages 10–15 or those more advanced in Jiu Jitsu. The class also centers around confidence building and the fundamental movements of Jiu Jitsu and self-defense, but goes further. Kids learn essential techniques and practice them with a partner at various levels of resistance. As they progress, they take part in controlled drilling against a resisting teammate or coach — becoming proficient at everything from escapes and top control to basic chokes and armlocks.
